So, I see the previews for the new movie 'When a Stranger Calls'. Of course, I laugh, because it is based on the childhood joke that scares every young girl at her first slumber party. That story (we didn't call them urban legends then) about a babysitter, the phone rings, a man scares her with "Have you checked the children lately?"
and eventually she calls the police and they tell her the call is coming from...INSIDE THE HOUSE!
OHMYGODS!!!
That was a good one when we were young.
But, then today, I discover it's a remake of a 1979 movie? Where was I? I don't recall ever hearing of it before!
But then again, I was a Jr in high school in Page AZ. and a TV was not allowed in our home (the joys of being a PK)
And living there we didn't hear of every movie out and even though I did go to movies then, I didn't go to a lot of movies, but I can't believe I didn't know this had already been done!
Because I always wondered...why hasn't someone made a movie out of this very scary little story that initiates every young girl who starts babysitting???
